Here's an event that you don't see often in our borough!
Stafford Crematorium and Cemetery on Tixall Road is holding a free open day on Saturday 27 June, 10am to 2pm, and everyone is welcome.
What to expect
- Guided tours with a live demonstration of the cremators
- Golf buggy and mini cooper hearses on display, alongside traditional hearses
- Expert staff on hand to talk about grave-digging, memorial safety and eco-friendly funerals
The site holds a Gold award from the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management and has flown a Green Flag — recognising it as one of the best open spaces in the country -- for over 12 years.
Why go?
Joss Presland, Head of Operations at Stafford Borough Council, says previous open days have drawn hundreds of visitors. "Many find it reassuring to discover more about what goes on, and ask questions about the many services we provide, at a time when they are not facing the emotional grief associated with losing a loved one," he said.
