Following a report on social media of a duck being hit on the A518 Newport Road - heading out of the village - signs have been installed to warn motorists at the busy stretch of road.
Luckily, the duck survived thanks to being rescued by a kind passer-by who travels the route daily, and it was released the next day.
The rescuer asked the Gnosall Community Support Group on Facebook if there was any way to get a "warning, ducks" sign put up on the road. Just hours later the BKV group sprang into action and had ordered temporary signs that can be used at this time of the year when the ducks are attempting to cross the road during mating season.
Temporary signs were erected the next day by Best Kept Village leader Laura Pearson, prompting words of gratitude for the Best Kept Village. By Sunday 19th April the signs were printed by local signmakers Dolphin Signs, and put into place on the road to alert passing motorists.
"It's nice to mention something and for something to be done. Just shows what a great community you have in Gnosall, not many would act towards a wildlife issue", said one user on the Facebook Group.
A cracking effort all round, and something the local ducks will no doubt be quacking about for weeks. Itβs safe to say the ducks of Gnosall can now cross the road with a touch more confidence - and considerably less drama.
