New Adult Learning Hub Opens in Stafford Town Centre

A former bank on Greengate Street has been transformed into a dedicated adult learning centre, offering courses in maths, English, digital skills and more.

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) has officially opened a brand-new adult learning hub at 41 Greengate Street in Stafford town centre, just six miles from Gnosall. The facility, called NSCG in Town, is aimed squarely at adult learners looking to gain new skills or qualifications.

The former NatWest bank building -- vacant since June 2025 -- has been redeveloped at a cost of £2.1 million, funded in part by the Department for Education. The three-storey building includes seminar rooms, an IT suite, private tutorial spaces and offices for the adult education team.

What courses are on offer?

  • Maths and English
  • ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
  • Essential digital skills
  • Access to Higher Education

By moving adult classes out of the main Stafford College campus, NSCG can free up space for the growing number of 16 to 18-year-old school leavers. Craig Hodgson, Principal and Chief Executive of NSCG, said the hub ensures "every learner in Stafford -- whether 16 or 60 -- has access to an outstanding learning environment."

Stafford MP Leigh Ingham, who supported the project, described it as "a massive achievement" for both the college and the town, adding it would help local people "learn, train, and build a future right here in Stafford."

The hub was officially launched on 4 September 2025. For more information on courses, visit nscg.ac.uk/adults.
