The Community Foundation for Staffordshire has revealed the finalists for the Best Large Village (South) category in its Best Kept Village and Community Awards, sponsored by Housing Plus Group - and Gnosall is on the list!
The other finalists in the category are Alrewas, Perton, Wheaton Aston and Whittington.
Congratulations to everyone in the Gnosall Best Kept Village Group, who - rain or shine - are out there doing amazing things for our community, including keeping the village looking beautiful, encouraging others to take pride, and running local awards to recognise community champions.
The awards celebrate community pride across Staffordshire and Shropshire, shining a light on the voluntary effort that goes into keeping local areas looking their best and feeling like great places to live.
How villages are judged
Scores are split across two areas:
- 30% - maintenance and appearance, assessed through the entry form, supporting documents and an in-person visit from judges
- 70% - inclusivity, year-round events, clubs and community cohesion, judged solely on the entry form and any accompanying evidence
Young people are encouraged to get involved
The organisers are keen for villages to bring children and young people into their entries. Doing so helps represent a wider range of voices, encourages the next generation to engage with village life and can help build a lasting sense of community while reducing isolation and antisocial behaviour.
