Local Issues

The following street repair issues are reported from FixMyStreet, a platform created by mySociety that helps people in the UK inform their local authority of problems needing their attention, including potholes, broken streetlights etc.

If you wish to report a problem in the local area, you can submit a report via the FixMyStreet website. Many citizens still prefer FixMyStreet because of its simplicity and because it removes the need for them to know which council is responsible for what problem.

Driving along road from Gnosall to Newport last night there was a fallen tree blocking that side of carriageway near the Navigation pub. Other carriageway passable.

Blocking road last night, although I’m a bit late reporting so it may have been cleared by now.

Dangerous damaged / diseased tree on embankment of the disused railway line/ cycle path. Overhanging gardens and property. Dangerous to anyone in the gardens.

Fri, 21 Mar 2025 14:26:16 +0000

I live in Gnosall, Staffordshire, and regularly use the disused railway line/ cycle path. Our garden backs on to the embankment of the path and we and our neighbour are concerned about the safety of a large overhanging branch. The tree is on the embankment and the braches are overhanging our gardens and look far to big/ high/ heavy to deal with safely ourselves. The size of the branch is such that should it fall it could be very dangerous to anyone in the gardens. I noticed that another branch of the same tree which has grown out separately from the base has died and fallen. The large branch in question grows from the same point at the base and does look damaged/ rotten. Would you urgently look into this please and let us know what can be done. Thank you. Deep pothole in unavoidable position near to junction of Crowley Lane with Wharf Road.

Wed, 08 Jan 2025 09:17:04 +0000

This deep pothole is in an awkward position which makes it likely to damage vehicles, unseat cyclists and motorcyclists and cause motorists to swerve in order to avoid it, thereby causing danger to other road users. It is situated at a very busy junction.

Cow slurry on cycle path

Sun, 14 Jan 2024 10:15:09 +0000

I cycled the route from Newport to Stafford and really enjoyed it apart from one 10 yard section at Springfield Farm Gnosall where the farmers cows cross the track and the slurry has built up to a big wet patch which is impassable. I tried to cycle through and clogged my mudguards and eventually had to push with my feet squelching through the mixture of slurry and urine. It's a 10 yard section which is unavoidable and ruins the ride/ the day for everyone and you know you have to cross it again on the way back! Not sure if it's worse when cows are out in summer or in sheds in winter as it seems the slurry also gravitates down from farm yard on way to crossing point.

Bins blocking driveway access

Tue, 12 Jul 2022 14:21:46 +0100

The bin men are constantly leaving the bins in front of driveways after they empty them, meaning you can't pull up onto your drive without having to get out your car to move them. This is unsafe , as it means leaving the car blocking the road to other drivers / vehicles, whilst you manoeuvre several bins. Which can take quite some time; especially for elderly or impaired people. When we put the bins out, we put them to the side of the drive or on the lawn ( always in a place of safety causing no obstructions) , so that we can still gain access and egress and the bins / bags are easily accessible for the bin men. Why can't the bin men do the same after they are emptied? Recently my partner was sat in their car on the drive ready to head out to work, when the bin man put the bin in right infront of them , blocking the driveway, meaning they had to get back out and move it before being able to drive off. That was just rude , because he did see them in the car.
