Around six million households across Britain are eligible for the £150 Warm Home Discount this winter, and the government is urging people to make sure they are named on their electricity bill before the deadline of Sunday 23 August.
Who qualifies?
If you live in Gnosall, you may be eligible if your household receives any of the following means-tested benefits:
- Universal Credit
- Pension Credit
- Housing Benefit
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
If you qualify, the £150 discount should be applied to your bill automatically — but only if the bill is in your name.
Why you might need to check
You may not be named on your electricity bill if you have recently moved home. If you use a prepayment meter with a key or card, make sure the account is registered in your name too.
Other help on energy costs
VAT on domestic electricity bills was removed from 1 October, saving households around £45 a year. The Warm Home Discount scheme is also confirmed to continue through to 2030/31, giving longer-term certainty to eligible families.
