Volunteers needed to help care for The Acres

A new volunteer group, Friends of the Acres Gnosall, is looking for local people to help protect and improve one of the village's best-loved green spaces.

About the group

Friends of the Acres Gnosall is a volunteer group dedicated to protecting, maintaining and improving The Acres for both wildlife and the local community. Work focuses on biodiversity and practical conservation, supporting Gnosall Parish Council's Acres biodiversity and management plan.

What volunteers will do

Practical tasks include managing vegetation, maintaining the dipping pond, improving habitats along the Doley Brook and general upkeep of the site. Much of the work is done by hand to avoid disturbing the ground and to keep costs down.

When can you get involved?

Volunteering sessions run between September and February only, outside of nesting season. All volunteers will be briefed on environmental and safety rules at each meet-up. Please note that under-16s are not able to take part.

Why volunteers matter

Parish councillors are themselves volunteers, so community help is essential to keep The Acres in good shape. If you care about this local green space and want to muck in, this group is for you.
